The High Priestess

By Sam R.

the high priestess
is it true
that your worst fear
has already happened
to you?

how do I speak through this sadness
my love, how do you speak like silence?
the subtle rules the dense
and night speaks
the final word

let me be like the cricket
effortlessly weaving my song
out of the dark thicket of night

you can be the moon
silently gathering the fibers
of night into a veil
to cast across the face
of our dreaming place

you right there
dabs of silver
where I imagine
tears once fell

who hurt you
and made this place
where I seem to fit
so perfectly within?

I sit in the dark
face lit by the moon
waiting for you
and your silent song
to join all of this

one bird at a time
the day is born
one word at a time
we become three

may my eyes be open
when the sun rises
